Two injured as car ploughs down embankment in Dalkeith

A motorist was ejected from a car while another had to be cut free following a road smash in Midlothian.

Police and fire crews were called in after a Mini Cooper left the road and sped down an embankment in Dalkeith.

Ten fire fighters were involved in the operation to cut one man free using hydraulic equipment.

Paramedics treated both motorists at the scene before taking them to the ERI.

The accident happened near the service station on the A68 in Dalkeith at around 2.20am on Friday.
