Seven officers from Lothian and Borders Police have been disciplined following the discovery of a missing man in his front garden.
Alan Goulden's body was discovered under a bush outside his home in Edinburgh two months after officers began looking for him.
When Mr Goulden, who was diabetic, disappeared last year police threw major resources into finding him.
In the months after the 64-year-old went missing from his Maybury home, police stopped traffic to question drivers, searched fields and even checked local rivers.
During this whole time, Mr Goulden's body was lying under a bush in his own front garden.
He was eventually found in November 2008.
Strathclyde Police were called in to investigate the apparent failings in the search proceedings.
On Thursday, it emerged that seven officers have now been disciplined.
The investigation uncovered mistakes made by team leaders, inappropriate search techniques being used and poor recording practices.
The report made several recommendations and the Lothian and Borders force says it will now be implementing these changes.
Meanwhile, a full apology has already been issued to Mr Gouldon's family by the force.
