Tens of thousands of music fans basked in sunshine as T in the Park got under way.
Scotland's biggest music festival will see 85,000 people descend on Balado, Kinross-shire, to see some of the world's top bands perform.
Kings of Leon are headlining on Friday, while Franz Ferdinand, James Morrison and Idlewild also play. Fans have travelled from as far as Australia and New Zealand to be at the festival.
By Thursday night 20,000 people were settled in the campsite, which can hold 65,000, and tens of thousands more arrived on Friday.
Festival promoter Geoff Ellis said: "We're very excited just seeing people coming into the campsite with smiles on their faces.
"There is an air of anticipation and when you have been planning an event all year it is great to see it come to fruition. We've got some great bands lined up. I think this weekend is one of the strongest line-ups we have ever had."
Forecasters said sunny weather can be expected in the area for, with temperatures rising to the high teens. The sunshine should continue on Saturday but rain is expected overnight and Sunday morning may be wet.
Mr Ellis said: "We want people to enjoy themselves but do it safely. So drink water, put on sunscreen and bring something warm for the evening and rainwear."
Tayside Police said they have been preparing for T in the Park since last year. There is a greater police presence on site this year, following last year's stabbing, and officers have been patrolling the campsite since last night when people were first allowed in.
Chief Superintendent Craig Suttie said everyone coming to the event should enjoy the occasion and "take care of themselves and their friends to help us to provide a safe environment for everyone to revel in what is an outstanding event".
He added: "Before they arrive people should plan their trip to T in the Park, whether it is for one day only or for the weekend's duration.
"Revellers should bring only what they need but be prepared for all eventualities and weather."
Police said their traffic management strategy has been improved since last year.
