Edinburgh City Council is urging bin collectors to return to their normal working arrangements as a pay dispute continues.
The local authority says the cleanliness of the city is suffering "unnecessarily" as staff work-to-rule in a dispute over pay.
The council also claim it is doing everything it can to minimise disruption to the public.
Despite talks between the unions and the council, a solution seems to be far off.
Some bin men say they could lose up to £3,000 a year as public sector pay structures are simplified across Scotland.
The council, however, insist 80 per cent of its staff will be no worse off and believes many of them will indeed benefit.
