Dozens of brides-to-be say their wedding day has been ruined after a Glasgow bridal shop shut unexpectedly and cleared most of its stock. 

Capri Skies in Bath Street closed its doors on Friday with no explanation. 

On Monday, police were called to the city centre store as a crowd of distraught women gathered to demand their wedding dresses.

One women, who was fighting back tears when she spoke to STV News, said: “I leave for Cyprus on Wednesday. I ordered my dress last August. I came on Thursday for a final fitting and they said they would put it in a bag for me to take on the plane.”

Another bride-to-be commented: “It is just absolutely atrocious how they could do that to people. Weddings are so stressful without them doing this to us.”

The shop’s owners have given no reason for the closure.

A sign put up at the store on Friday stated: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Capri Skies will be unable to open this weekend."

Other bridal stores across Glasgow are now offering gowns to the disgruntled customers at discounted rates.
