A man who raped a woman after luring her into the country with the promise of work has appealed against his conviction.
Indulis Lukstins' 21-year-old victim thought she had come to Scotland to look after the children of a Russian family in Glasgow.
Instead she was raped by Lukstins hours after she arrived in the country.
The Latvian national told his victim they were going to Inverness and then threatened her with a knife and attacked her after pulling into a lay-by at the side of the A9.
He held the knife to her throat and forced her to perform a sex act on him.
Jailing him for seven years, Lady Clark said Lukstins had "preyed on the young woman in this case who was in a vulnerable situation".
Lukstins, who had been living in Nairn, became the first man to be convicted of rape since a change in the law widened the definition to include other sex acts.
He claimed that the woman had willingly performed the act on him, on January 15 last year.
He has now appealed against the conviction. The hearing is due to be held at the Criminal Appeal Court in Edinburgh at the end of May.
