Man left scarred for life after an unprovoked attack in Glasgow

A 53-year-old man has been left scarred for life after an unprovoked attack in Glasgow.

The man was walking along Paisley Road West near to Berryknowes Road, Cardonald, when he was approached by a man who punched him several times.

He suffered serious facial injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Southern General Hospital for treatment.

Hospital staff described his condition as stable.

The suspect, who ran off towards Lammermoore Avenue, is described as white, 45 to 49 years old, 5ft 7in tall, of medium to stocky build, with balding hair. He was wearing a light coloured top and jeans.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Saturday.

Detective Constable Carolanne Montgomery said: "The injured man had been out with friends and had just left a nearby pub to get the bus home when he was attacked and punched several times by the suspect for what would appear to be no apparent reason.

"His injuries will leave a permanent scar."
