Fire crews battle large blaze at salvage yard in West Lothian

Fire: No-one injured as a result of the blaze.

Firefighters tackled a large blaze in West Lothian on Tuesday evening.

Crews from Lothian and Borders Fire Service were called to an industrial fire in the Bathgate and Armadale area after police officers spotted thick clouds of black smoke rising into the air just after 8pm.

Although the flames were out by 10.30pm, emergency services remained on the scene through the night.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the fire was at an automotive salvage yard.

He added that no-one has been injured as a result of the fire, which he described as "quite large".

It is believed the fire service called in crews from outside the area to help tackle the fire.
