Moira Jones murder trial timeline

October 2007 - Lucie Pechtlova, a Czech national, resided at an address in Liverpool with other Czech/Slovakian nationals including Marek Harcar. They were in the UK for employment opportunities.    

February 2008 - Lucie Pechtlova travelled to Glasgow and obtained employment. She lived in rented accommodation in the Queens Drive area adjacent to Queens Park.  

Prior to 18 May 2008 - Marek Harcar contacted Lucie Petchlova and arranged to travel to Glasgow to live in her flat whilst seeking employment in Glasgow.  

18 May 2008 - Harcar arrived in Glasgow with the assistance of an associate Marcel Korenko, a Czech national. Marek Harcar does not gain employment and was drinking heavily. There was friction between him and Lucie Petchtlova.   

28 May 2008 - 20.00 - 22.00hrs - Harcar drinks extensive amounts of lager and vodka.  He becomes argumentative with Pechtlova. Harcar leaves the flat extremely intoxicated. He is wearing his 3/4 length black leather jacket, light blue jeans and white trainers.  

Approx 22.45hrs - Moira Jones leaves Paul Thompson's home and drives to her flat in Queens Drive, in her Toyota Rav 4 car.

23.06hrs - Marek Harcar is seen on CCTV outside the Tir Chonaill Pub, 506 Victoria Road, Glasgow walking towards Queens Park.  (above)

Approx 23.20hrs - Moira Jones is seen by a witness parking her Toyota RAV4 in Queens Drive, Glasgow.  

23.31hrs - A First Bus CCTV camera captures a tall person and a smaller person on the footpath of Queens Park heading towards the entry gate near to the tennis courts.  

23.35 - 02.00hrs - Witnesses heard screams from the area of Queens Park. A dog walker sees a man and possibly a woman in suspicious circumstances in a holly bush. The man is described as dark skinned and good build.   

29 May 2008 - 02.18 - 02.35hrs - A man is captured on CCTV leaving Queens Park at Balvicar Street. The man is wearing light coloured jeans, dark jacket and white trainers.  He appears to be carrying something.  He is then seen walking outside Haddows Off Sales, Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow. The man is no longer carrying an item.    

03.15hrs - Marek Harcar returns home to Lucie Pechtlovas flat. He is aggressive.  

09.45hrs - Council workers find the body of Moira Jones in Queens Park and contact the Police. A major incident is commenced and Queens Park is sealed off as a crime scene. Forensic specialists attend the scene. The police enquiry team are based at Cathcart Police Office with DCI Derek Robertson as the Senior Investigating Officer.  

1 June 2008 - 05.30hrs - Marcel Korenko uplifts Marek Harcar and drives him to Glasgow Airport for a flight to London.  

08.00hrs - Harcar departs on flight from Glasgow to London

13.40hrs - Harcar departs on a flight from Stanstead Airport to Brno, Czech Republic.   

12 June 2008  - Lucie Pechtlova is identified through house to house enquiries and names Marek Harcar as living with her for a short period before returning to Europe. Forensic samples are obtained from Marek Harcars property, which had been left in the flat.  

14 - 17 June 2008 - Forensic scientists subsequently match the forensic samples obtained from the flat with those taken from the crime scene. A European Arrest Warrant is requested to arrest Marek Harcar. International Liaison with Strathclyde Police and the Slovakian Police is commenced regarding the location of Marek Harcar.       

18 June 2008 - 11.40hrs - Harcar is detained in Slovakia with his black leather jacket, blue jeans and white trainers. Slovakian authorities subsequently find a Digital Camera (same make, model, serial number and colour as missing from Moira Jones). Marek Harcar has a Sony Ericson phone with the rear piece missing. The rear of a Sony Ericson phone had been recovered adjacent to Moira Jones body in Queens Park.   

16 July 2008 - Marek Harcar is returned to the UK under a European Arrest warrant.   

12 March 2009
- The murder trial commences at the High Court, Glasgow.
