A sex attacker who assaulted a woman near Glasgow's Queen's Park has been jailed for at least five years and three months.
Jason Mulheron, 37, pounced on his 44-year-old victim as she walked home on April 3 last year.
She was punched repeatedly in the face, indecently assaulted and had her handbag stolen.
Mulheron, from the Govanhill area of Glasgow, was released on licence in 2004 from a seven-year sentence he was given in 2000 for attempted rape.
He admitted repeatedly threatening to kill and rape the 44-year-old last year, telling her he had a knife, punching her, sexually assaulting her with intent to rape and robbing her of her handbag.
Judge Lady Dorrian, sitting at the High Court in Edinburgh, imposed an order for lifelong restriction, meaning that Mulheron will remain under strict supervision for the rest of his life when he is eventually released.
He was ordered to spend a minimum of five years and three months behind bars.
