We asked our loyal STV viewers and readers where are Scotland's worst potholes – and they responded with dozens of locations across the nation.
No area was spared. One location was described as a moonscape and western areas appeared to receive more criticism than most.
Ayrshire came off poorly in the pothole report from an insurance firm (see story) and our independent survey of responses concurs.
The Isle of Arran, which is part of North Ayrshire Council, was described by one reader as having "the worst potholes ever". Others noted Catrine - near Mauchline - and Tarbolton as having dodgy roads.
Renfrewshire, the Lothians, Fife, Inverclyde and the Highlands were also targeted by irate readers.
Here is a sampling of your comments:
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland with roads that resemble the surface of the moon! I think - recession aside - that our tourism figures will quickly decline as visitors decide to stay away from a city becoming gridlocked, due to endless roadworks and dangerous potholes.
Council chiefs should be brought to task, as they are effectively failing in their jobs, and therefore, damaging the long-term economy of Edinburgh and Scotland.

The roads in Helensburgh are absolutely terrible, potholes everywhere. My husband and I are keen motorcyclists and since moving to Scotland we have sold our motorbikes mainly because of the condition of the roads.
--
The roads in Inverclyde - made up of Inverkip, Gourock, Greenock and Port Glasgow - are a total and utter disgrace! The road I stay on was "supposedly" resurfaced last year and the pot holes are back! Pavements have been dug up three times and are a nightmare to walk on!

The Isle of Arran, part of North Ayrshire Council, has the worst potholes ever! The roads have no depths of foundations, our ancestors just painted the cart tracks black with tarmac, and no amount of pothole filling ever lasts long. We need major expenditure to bring our roads up to an acceptable standard - instead of which North Ayrshire are diverting money from the roads budget to upgrade the Magnum in Irvine - a place that few of Arran's residents ever visit.
--
We live in Lochaline (near Oban) and the roads are worse than Ayrshire.
--
Clackmannanshire - terrible roads.
--
Mitchelston Industrial Estate, Kirkcaldy, Fife. Roads are terrible.
--
Possibly the worst road in Fife is a road leading up to a nursing home, Walkerton Drive, (is) an absolute disgrace.
--
Fort William - pothole on A82 at junction into retail park at Argos (has) been like this for months. Traffic actually switching into filter lane to avoid hole.
--
The roads in Kirkintilloch are a mess. The money we pay for road tax, where is it going?
--
Glasgow southside is one huge pothole. You'll be lucky if you find one stretch of decent road, and to think of the road tax we have to pay.
--
Newmarket Street in Falkirk, outside the City night club. You can see the old cobbles showing through. It's a disgrace - what is my road tax being used for?
--
Dalgety Bay. The road from Harbour Place to Hillend is outrageous. You have to go on the other side of the road to avoid them. Been the same for three years plus.
--
I stay in Hazel Avenue, Johnstone (Renfrewshire). I have two big potholes outside my house.
--
Roads in and around Tarbolton, South Ayrshire, are full of potholes. They are a disgrace.
--
I live in Lochwinnoch (Renfrewshire) and potholes all over - and in the country roads too.
--
I am sick of the roads. I have had two wheels cracked and one driveshaft. And I crashed, which I am lucky to be here today.
--
I live in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, and almost every road requires extensive repairs - very little money spent on repairs. We have some of the worst roads in the world and yet motorists are the highest taxed.
