Edinburgh Zoo is inviting members of the public to take part in a fire walk in the name of conservation.
The fire walk is scheduled for April 24, and sponsored individuals will have to walk across 20 feet of embers burning at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit.
The event is organised by Blaze Fire Walk Challenge who will run a two-hour training session before it begins
The training involves a motivational psychology seminar which is designed to give the entrants the resources to walk unharmed across the embers.
Lisa Durant, a previous participant, said in a statement: "Taking part in the fire walk was a fantastic experience. The trainers really put everyone at ease and helped us overcome the fear of walking on burning coals.
"I would thoroughly recommend the fire walk for anyone who wants to do something out of the ordinary while raising money for conservation."
Sponsorship money raised will be donated to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), the charity that owns Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie.
Zoe Mobey, development manager for RZSS, said: "We're calling on daredevils to join us to celebrate our 100th birthday by taking part in a fire walking challenge to help raise funds for RZSS.
"Our October event raised £7,500 which went towards the essential funds we need to protect endangered species and their habitats.
"The training provided prior to the event is extremely empowering and previous participants have indicated that this is one of the most thrilling challenges they have experienced."
