Donations from passengers at Glasgow Airport has paid for over £1,300 worth of computer equipment and games

Elderslie's Jump Club, which is part of East Gate Church in Renfrewshire, is to benefit from the equipment. The club has been operating for over one year and currently attracts more than 130 children from the local area.

It is a weekly club that provides games, arts and crafts as well as encouraging local children to work together and feel part of a community.

The money was raised by passengers at Glasgow Airport returning home with unwanted currency.

Club organiser Linda O'Malley said in a statement: "It's a great boost for local parents to be able to offer this kind of community facility and the club has been a real success story with local children. They are really enjoying coming along every week.

"We have always wanted to create a games room for the club, but have never quite had the funds to do so. Glasgow Airport's generous donation means that we now have the money to buy all the computer equipment and games needed for the room."

Amanda McMillan, managing director at Glasgow Airport, said: "I think the club's programme is a great platform for bringing children from different backgrounds together and teaching them invaluable life skills for the future.

"As a business in the heart of Renfrewshire, Glasgow Airport is committed to developing relationships with the local community and would be delighted to hear from local charities and community groups working in the field of sport, environment and economic regeneration."
