The first bio diesel filling station in the north east of Scotland is set to open its doors in Aberdeen.
Bio Fuels Limited converts locally sourced, used vegetable oils into what it describes as very high quality diesel fuel.
From Tuesday, it will be selling the fuel direct to the public and commercial customers via what it claims is the first and only 100% bio diesel filling station in the area.
The fuel is an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil based diesel. It is said to produce better miles per gallon, improved engine performance through natural lubrication, fewer harmful emissions and is also carbon neutral.
According to its makers, it costs ten pence a litre cheaper than any fossil fuel sold in filling stations in the city.
Those behind the project say any diesel engine will run on it and no engine modifications are needed to use the standard bio diesel, so drivers can simply fill and go.
