A Dundee councillor has slammed a group of vandals who have targeted the Magdalen Green area of the city.
West End councillor, Fraser Macpherson, attacked the "mindless" behaviour of the vandals who sprayed the area with graffiti, saying that they had defaced one of the city's "most iconic green spaces", according to a report in the Dundee Evening Telegraph.
The recent spree of vandalism saw the walk-bridge between the Green and the playing fields at Riverside Drive and a new notice board scrawled with graffiti.
Councillor Macpherson said that following complaints from the Friends of Magdalen Green and local residents, he has contacted the city council's head of waste management to ask that the local authority's rapid response team remove the spray paint.
Mr Macpherson said: "Residents are rightly extremely annoyed at this latest example of mindless vandalism.
"Graffiti is a problem in many parts of the city and it is important it is removed promptly, so I am grateful to the head of waste management who has very promptly responded, advising that he will progress my request that the graffiti gets removed.
"The department also makes anti-graffiti kits available to community groups, which is a useful service."
The councillor has also reported the matter to Tayside Police.
