Prison and the problem of re-offending

STV
Repeat offending is an issue that affects the lives of too many prisoners. All too often they find themselves caught in a cycle that finds them committing more crime on release and are unable to find a way out of a life that involves being locked up time after time.

Scotland Today's Debi Edward speaks to some of the prisoners who have found themselves in this situation, and they explain the reasons for their behaviour. Often drink and drugs are involved in what has brought them to the attention of the prison service.

She also speaks to Harry O'Neill, who processes prisoners as they arrive at Barlinnie, and prison psychologist Clair Robinson, about why they keep seeing the same faces in their work, and what help could be given to prisoners once they are released to prevent them re-offending.
