Gang target and beat up three men in the street in Midlothian

A gang of men arrived in cars to attack three men who were walking in the street in Midlothian.

A 50, 53 and 54-year-old were walking down Hill Road in Pathhead at around 5.20pm on Saturday when two or three cars pulled up.

A group of around four men got out of the vehicles, which included a red Peugeot and a blue Vauxhall, and started assaulting the men.

The 50-year-old victim was left with a broken nose and cheek and the other men were also injured. All three had to be taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses as they try and track down the group responsible.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are appealing to anyone who was in Pathhead or the surrounding area around the time of the incident, who either saw the assault take place, or who saw the vehicles used by the suspects, to contact police immediately.

"Anyone else who has any other information that can assist out inquiries should also get in touch."
