An elderly man is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car on a city centre street on Easter Monday.

The man was knocked down outside Barrhead Travel in Oswald Street, Glasgow, at about 6.50pm.

He was taken by ambulance to the city's Royal Infirmary.

Police said no medical update was available.

The road has been closed between Argyle Street and Broomielaw.
