Snow Patrol and Kasabian are to headline Scotland's biggest music festival.

The bands will join The Stone Roses at the top of the bill at this year's T in the Park in July.

They will play for tens of thousands of fans during the festival staged at Balado in Kinross on July 6-8.

Kasabian said it was an "honour" to be invited back to play at the Scottish festival.

They said: "It’s always been one of our favourite UK festivals and after having such a blast in 2010, we can’t wait to do it all over again."

Other acts that have been confirmed for the festival include Florence + the Machine, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Tinie Tempah, New Order and Calvin Harris.

Geoff Ellis, festival director, said: "It’s really important to us that we listen to the fans and make every effort to book the bands they tell us they want to see.

"With some of the biggest bands and the greatest audience in the world, we hope the weekend of July 6–8 will be unforgettable for fans."

George Kyle, head of sponsorship for Tennent's lager, said: "As founding partner of T in the Park, Tennent’s lager is proud to be part of this amazing event that is loved by both the fans and the bands.

"It's another fantastic lineup of internationally renowned acts and from launching in 1994, it’s amazing to see where T in the Park is now – in its rightful place on the global stage. Tennent’s are so incredibly proud to have been the T in T in the Park for 19 years and counting."
