A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Inverness.
The 24-year-old man was hit by the vehicle at Barn Church Road in the Smithton area close to 7pm on Wednesday night.
The man suffered serious injuries to his head and face and was taken to A&E at Raigmore Hospital in the city for treatment.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Barn Church Road was closed between the junction near the former garage and Murray Road for some time while emergency services attended the scene.
