A film rated as one of the best horror films of all time is being brought to the stage.
The National Theatre of Scotland adaptation of cult classic The Wicker Man opens in Aberdeen on Wednesday.
The 1973 movie tells the story of a devout policeman who travels to a remote Hebridean island over the disappearance of a young girl, only to discover that the locals have reverted to pagan practices.
An Appointment with The Wicker Man tells the story of an amateur drama club trying to put on a musical version of original film, when the leading man goes missing.
The cast for the production includes Greg Hemphill, star of popular shows Still Game and Chewin' The Fat.
He said: "They shouldn't expect a pastiche like Scary Movie. It's not a pastiche of a horror film.
"What we're doing is making fun of this group of am-dram players whose talent doesn't match their ambition.
"It's basically their noble failure in their attempt to stage The Wicker Man as a stage show.
"We like to think of it as a celebration of the film."
