A fifth year pupil dished out drugs to her fellow pupils in the school playground.

Lauren Wilson was caught with a pocketful of diazepam tablets after third year pupils reported her to staff at Buckhaven High School in Leven, Fife.

On Wednesday, Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard Wilson, who has since left school, was confronted at her classroom desk after the tip-off last year.

She had 17 diazepam tablets, sold as Valium, in her possession and told staff she had already sold "one or two".

Brent Bisset, prosecuting, said teachers had been alerted to the dealing on March 17 last year.

The depute fiscal said: "At the time of the offence the accused was registered at the school as a pupil. The witnesses were third year pupils.

"At approximately 10am members of staff in a supervisory role in the school building were passed information that Wilson was selling drugs and that she still had them in her possession. Members of staff went to the classroom where the accused was in a lesson, and asked her to come into another room where they could speak to her.

"They told her that they had reason to suspect she had drugs on her. The staff asked her to hand the drugs over. She did, and stated to them 'they are only Vallies'.

"They asked if she had sold any and she said she had sold one or two. They also asked who she sold them to. In total she had 17 pills on her. When asked about it she replied, 'I know what I did was stupid'."

Police were called in and she was later charged.

Wilson, from Methill, pleaded guilty to supplying diazepam, a class C drug, within the grounds of the school.

Defence agent Dewar Spence confirmed Wilson was attending school at the time of the offence and had just turned 17.

He said: "She was in the fifth year at the school, she was 17 years old."

Sheriff James Williamson deferred sentence for background reports, and warned Wilson that she needed to cooperate.

He said: "I need a social work report before I deal with you. By the time you come back make sure you have cooperated with social workers so I have a full report."
