A pensioner who caused chaos by driving the wrong way on a motorway has warned he faces losing his licence.
Alistair Fraser, 72, drove his Peugeot 207 diesel car for about a mile against the traffic on the M876 after joining the westbound carriageway near Falkirk.
Sheriff William Gallacher warned him that unless a defence lawyer produced "something remarkable", he would lose his licence and have to resit his driving test.
Fraser, of Grahamsdyke Street, Lauriston, Falkirk, pled guilty at the town's sheriff court to driving dangerously on October 15.
Sheriff Gallacher said: "Do you understand that as a matter of law I must disqualify you from driving?
"The consequences of this will be, unless I hear something remarkable, that you will lose your licence and you will have to resit your test.
"There is also likely to be a fine. This is a very serious matter."
Sentence was deferred until March to allow Fraser to seek legal advice.
