A 70-year-old married man spent two nights in the cells for fighting with his mistress after he caught her in bed with another man.
Alexander Black flew into a jealous rage when a romantic meal to rekindle his affair with 61-year-old Margaret Pearson was interrupted by a phone call from her other lover.
Black, who had been seeing Ms Pearson for eight years while being married, threw a glass of wine over Ms Pearson and pushed her, Perth Sheriff Court was told.
She retaliated by kicking him in the groin and punching him on the chin before calling police as Black tried to remove a TV and other gifts from the house.
Fiscal depute Nicola Manison said Black had gone to Ms Pearson's home in Kinross on May 30 last year to reconcile after discovering her in flagrante with the other man.
Solicitor Linda Clark, defending, said: "Prior to this night I understand he attended her home and discovered her in a compromising position with another male. He had certainly been upset and left the address to return home.
"In her property were items he purchased for the complainer, such as the TV and other things. He had been invited for a meal so the couple could consider the future of their relationship.
"The couple had a meal and something to drink, then the phone rang on a couple of occasions and rang off. Mr Black perceived this as someone trying to contact the complainer with a view to finding out if he was there.
"The caller was another male - the one that had been in the property previously. An argument ensued. He accepts he behaved in the manner described, which was less than helpful for the overall situation."
She added that Black had "an injury to his chin" when police arrived to arrest him.
"The complainer had punched him on the chin and kicked him on the groin during the course of whatever went on," Ms Clark said.
"He spent two nights in custody for his trouble. He has not been in touch with the complainer since."
Fiscal depute Nicola Manison said Black "became angry and started to shout" when he realised the phone call was from his mistress's paramour.
"He continued to shout for a number of minutes," she said. "He then proceeded to pour a glass of wine over the complainer's head and then he pushed her."
"He then went to remove a number of items from the house, during which time the complainer contacted the police."
Black, who admitted breach of the peace, was fined £200 by Sheriff Michael Fletcher.
