A teenager who died after being hit by a car as he crossed a road in East Kilbride has been named.
Ewan Murray, 18, was crossing the A726 Queensway west of Murray Road when he was struck by a Vauxhall Vectra.
He was rushed to Hairmyres Hospital after the incident, which took place at 6.20pm on Saturday, but later died. His family has been informed.
The 33-year-old driver of the car and his female passenger were not injured.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Earlier on Saturday, a 52-year-old man was killed and a 20-year-old man left in critical condition in hospital after a crash in Ayrshire.
The 52-year-old was driving a Citroen Berlingo which collided with a Renault Clio on the B743 Ayr to Annbank Road at St Quivox at around 5.15pm.
Both men were rushed to Ayr Hospital; however, the 52-year-old died shortly after admission. The 20-year-old remains in a critical condition.
Police enquiries into the incident are under way and the road was closed for 11 hours to allow officers to investigate the scene.
A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police asked witnesses to contact the road policing department at Irvine.
