In a frenetic day of resignations and recriminations, the Labour run Glasgow Council's Budget passed by two votes.
Authority leader Gordon Matheson said he was thrilled by the result, rejecting the SNP's claim that his administration's authority was now in meltdown.
The battle came just 12 weeks before all of Scotland's councils come up for grabs, in what promises to be a particularly bitter election campaign.
Scotland Tonight discussed the situation with SNP local government minister Derek Mackay; the senior Glasgow Labour councillor Stephen Curran; the Liberal Democrat MSP and Borders councillor Jim Hume and the leader of the Scottish Conservatives Ruth Davidson.
