Rescue teams searching for a man missing from his Highland home since the weekend have found a body.
Stephen McGurk was last seen in his home town of Thurso on Sunday afternoon.
Lifeboat crews and police dogs joined the hunt for the missing 38-year-old man this week.
Police were particularly concerned for the welfare of the missing man, originally from Glasgow, because was gone without his prescribed medication.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "We can confirm that the body of a man has been recovered in Thurso East.
"Enquiries are still at an early stage."
The discovery was made by a police dog handler on Thursday.
The body has not yet been identified but the land and sea search for Mr McGurk has now been stood down.
Mr McGurk's family have been informed of the latest development.
A Facebook appeal for information on Mr McGurk's whereabouts was shared by more than 200 people.
