Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found in a house on Monday night as unexplained.
Emergency services were called to the house in North Street, New Elgin, in Moray, at around 6.15pm.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The street remains cordoned off on Tuesday with officers stationed at the entrances to the property while others conducted door-to-door enquiries and questioned passers by.
A Serious Crimes Unit van is stationed on the New Elgin road.
Police inspector Ewan Strachan said: "We can confirm police and ambulance crews attended an address in New Elgin following concerns about an occupant at the address.
"A man was found dead in the house. Investigations into the death are at an early stage and we are meantime treating the circumstances as unexplained.
"Officers are still at the scene."
It is understood that the dead man was in his 30s and that a neighbour raised the alarm.
Grampian Police said inquiries into his death were at an early stage and that no further information was immediately available.
