A man has been arrested in connection with the death of an elderly woman at her home.

Kathleen Milward, 87, was found dead in Brodie Place, Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, at about 8.30pm on January 3.

Police taped off the semi-detached cottage and garden as they investigated the scene.

Strathclyde Police said a 40-year-old man had been arrested on Friday in connection with Mrs Milward's death.

He is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Mrs Wishaw had lived in Brodie Place since 2001 and originally came from Wishaw.
