A man has appeared in court charged with an attack which left a woman's life in danger.
Iain MacKay is accused of seriously assaulting the 25-year-old woman in a house at Ballifeary Road in Inverness on Sunday, January 29.
The 54-year-old is alleged to have put the woman's life in danger and left her severely injured, permanently impaired and permanently disfigured.
Mackay, of Inverness, has also been charged with an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
He made no plea when he appeared at court on Thursday and was released on bail.
He is expected to return to court in the coming weeks.
