A 70-year-old man has died and two women have been injured after a collision between a tractor and car in Aberdeenshire.
The man, whose identity has not yet been announced but was from the Keith area, died at the scene of the accident after the two vehicles collided on the A95 road between Ladyhill and Keith on Thursday morning.
One woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance while the other woman was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.
The 47-year-old driver of the tractor was uninjured.
Police, fire crew and paramedics attended the scene of the accident, at the Nethermills junction, which happened at around 10.55am.
A fire service spokeswoman said three engines, from Keith, Fochabers and Huntly, had been sent to the scene.
The road was closed and diversions were put into place following the crash.
Inspector Scott Mann of the Road Policing Department said: "Tragically a man has died as a result of this morning's collision. His family are aware and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. Our enquiries into establishing the cause of the collision are clearly at a very early stage. Collision Investigators have spent several hours carrying out a detailed examination of the scene which resulted in the road being closed until 7.00pm.
"We have already spoken with a number of witnesses at the scene and I'd like to thank all of those who stopped to assist. We would however, like anyone else who may have witnessed the collision, or its immediate aftermath and who has not yet spoken to police, to contact us as soon as possible."
In June last year, 18-year-old Michael Fraser was killed in a crash at the Nethermills junction just days after celebrating his birthday.
