Campaigners leading the fight against plans to build an aerial assault course in a Glasgow park
are condemning vandalism at a similar site in the Trossachs. Go Ape in Aberfoyle was forced
to close after zip slide cables were cut and graffiti sprayed across signs.
A 150 foot high zip slide is out of action after steel cables were cut. A tear on another
cable may look small but it could have had horrific consequences if the zip wires were not checked
every morning.
Vandals calling themselves FFP, thought to stand for Freedom for Pollok, wrecked the assault
course on Friday night. It is the second time that it has been targeted in the past three
weeks
The attack happened just two days after the Scottish Government refused to step in to stop
plans for another course in Glasgow's Pollok Park. The proposals have led to fierce
opposition from locals but the campaign group against the scheme is disassociating itself from the
vandals.
Police are now patrolling the Go Ape course in the Trossachs. It should reopen on
Thursday.
