A Scottish pensioner has been charged with murder after a missing 11-year-old boy was found dead in Bulgaria.
David Bryson, who is originally from Larkhall in South Lanarkshire, was arrested after Stanislav Mirchev was found dead in a gorge on Saturday.
The 71-year-old ex-pat Scot lived in Lagoshevtsi village, in the Vidin region of the country, for the past five years.
Stanislav had been reported missing on January 2, 18 days before his body was found by local police.
The Ministry of Interior in Bulgaria confirmed Bryson had appeared before a judge at the District Court of Vidin on Friday.
He was charged with "murder of a juvenile" and the case was continued for trial.
On Friday, the Foreign Office confirmed Bryson had been arrested after the death.
The Foreign Office confirmed that it was offering "consular assistance" to the British national.
