The A890 at Stromeferry in Ross-shire will remain closed indefinitely.
Police made the announcement following further rockfall overnight.
The stretch of road between Lochcarron and Kyle was expected to reopen this weekend after a 100-tonne rock slide forced its closure on Thursday.
Motorists are being advised to check with Transport Scotland for updates.
