A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his own father at a house in Paisley.

William Cameron, 26, is alleged to have killed 51-year-old Alexander Cameron at a property in Tannahill Road on Wednesday, August 3.

He is accused of assaulting his father with two bottles or similar items and repeatedly stamping on his head and body.

Cameron, of Todholm Terrace, Paisley, made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody by Sheriff George Kavanagh after the short private hearing.

The case was continued for further examination.
