Husband charged in hospital with murdering mother-of-two

Arrest: Mrs Cumming was found dead in her home in a village near Dundee.

A court convened in hospital to charge a husband with murdering a mother-of-two at her home.

Neil Cumming was charged while being treated in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, on Tuesday afternoon.

The 45-year-old was charged with killing his wife Jane Cumming at their Longforgan home, near Dundee, on July 15.

He was also charged with dangerous driving on the A90 in the hours before Mrs Cumming’s body was discovered by officers at the family home.

He made no plea or declaration to both charges after Perth Sheriff Court convened privately at the hospital to hear the case.

Cumming was remanded in custody while the case was continued for further examination.

He was being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Mrs Cumming, a 40-year-old bank worker, had two daughters, aged 11 and 12.
