A woman will stand trial accused of violently swinging a one-month-old baby around a room while drunk before later trying to throw the child at police officers.

Louise Dixon appeared in court on Tuesday accused of wilfully ill-treating the baby.

Dixon is accused of swinging the child back and forth while under the influence of alcohol before attacking a man while holding the baby at an address in Dundee.

She denies taking the child to another address in the city where she tried to throw the baby at two police constables who attempted to arrest her.

The offences are said to have taken place between May 6 and May 7 this year.

Dixon, 26, of Milton Street, Monifieth, denies six charges including assault, breach of the peace and possessing diazepam.

Sheriff Tom Hughes ordered her to stand trial later this month.
