An armed robber was chased down an Edinburgh street by the shop owner he targeted, police have said.
The thief made off with a three-figure sum following a raid on Meadows Wine off-licence in Melville Drive.
He was chased for around 40 yards along nearby Sciennes Place by the 40-year-old shop owner before managing to disappear out of sight.
The robber is described as being around 6ft tall and of medium to heavy build. He was wearing a black, waist length 'Helly Hansen' jacket and beige beanie hat.
The raid happened at around 9pm on Friday.
A police spokesman said: "The area was busy at this time of the evening and I'm sure someone must have seen this 40 yard chase along Sciennes Place."
