A teenager has died after a car overturned at a motorway junction on the outskirts of Perth.
Ricky James Brown, 18, from Newburgh in Fife, was a passenger in a silver Ford Focus car which overturned just after midnight on Friday on the slip road leading from Edinburgh Road to junction 10, at Craigend.
He and the driver of the car, a 20-year-old man, were cut free from the vehicle by a fire crew and taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where Mr Brown later died.
The driver has since been released after receiving treatment.
The road was closed for seven hours while accident investigators surveyed the scene.
Sergeant Alan Pettigrew, of Tayside Police's road policing unit at Perth, said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the untimely death of a young man.
"We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident in order to explain what has occurred.
"To that end I would appeal for anyone who may have any information regarding the circumstances to contact us as a matter of priority.
"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the distinctive grey Ford Focus ST170 motor car travelling in the Perth area around midnight on Thursday night/ Friday morning.”
