Four people have been hospitalised following a road accident in South Ayrshire.

Strathclyde firefighters rescued them from two cars which had collided on the A713 at Hollybush just after noon on Wednesday, December 8.

The crews assisted a woman from a car which had left the road and landed on its roof.

Another woman was cut out of the second car which had remained on the road.

The women and two adult male passengers were then taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital.

Earlier in the day, at 11:01am, firefighters from Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth were called to a farmhouse near Milton of Campsie, East Dunbartonshire, where a woman had suffered injuries resulting from what is believed to have been an explosion in a back boiler.

The woman was taken to Stobhill Hospital with facial burns and stomach injuries.
