Body of man found in West Dunbartonshire flat prompts police probe

The body of a man was discovered in a flat in West Dunbartonshire.

In the early hours of Friday a member of the public raised the alarm after the man was found dead in a property in Alexandria.

Strathclyde Police said they are treating the death of the man, whose body was found at around 1.50am, as suspicious.

Officers have cordoned off the flat in the town's Beechwood Drive as enquiries into the death continue.

A force spokeswoman said: "A police investigation it ongoing into the death of an as yet unidentified man within a flat in Beechwood Drive, Alexandria.

"Extensive police enquiries have been carried out to establish circumstances surrounding the death and the identity of the man.

"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course, however, in the meantime police are treating the death as suspicious."
