Man assaulted and hit by bottle in East Kilbride

Evening attack: The victim was hit by a bottle

A 30-year-old man was seriously assaulted then hit by a bottle as he walked to the shops in East Kilbride.

Three youths taunted then kicked and punched the victim as they pulled him to the ground near to Logie Park in the East Mains area of the town.

He managed to get to his feet and started to run off, but the trio threw glass bottles after him, causing a serious injury to his ear. 

The victim was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he was treated for head injuries and subsequently released.

Detectives from East Kilbride CID are today appealing for witnesses to the attack, which took place on Friday evening.

Detective Constable Iain McCulloch said: "I would also urge anyone who saw this attack take place, or has any information that would help trace those responsible, to please come forward."

The victim can only describe one of the suspects, who was a white male, around 20-years-old, with light brown hair and was wearing a grey hooded top.
