John Lewis: Firm's van hit pedestrian in Dunfermline
A pedestrian is in a serious condition in hospital after a John Lewis delivery van mounted a pavement and pinned him against a wall.
The 55-year-old was trapped against the wall in Nethertown Broad Street in Dunfermline, about 7pm on Thursday. The van is believed to have swerved to avoid colliding with a car before hitting the man.
Ambulance crews rushed the man to Queen Margaret Hospital where his condition is described as "critical but stable". He is thought to have injured his lower legs where the van hit him.
The John Lewis driver was not injured but treated at the scene of the crash for shock.
Fife Constabularly are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Police spokesman David McCulloch said: "My officers are currently trying to piece together the circumstances of this accident and I would appeal to any member of the public who may have witnessed this accident to contact us by calling 0845 600 5702."
A spokeswoman for John Lewis said: "Given Fife police are still investigating the situation, we are unable to comment at this current time.
"We are working closely with Fife police to gain a better understanding of what has happened and will continue to support their investigation in any way we can."
