A man has been seriously injured in an assault near the city centre of Aberdeen.
The attack happened on Bath Street, near it’s junction with Windmill Brae at around 1am on Friday. The 24-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a result of his injuries which are said to be ‘serious’.
Grampian Police say their investigation is still at a very early stage, with enquiries currently ongoing at the scene.
As a result, the force has closed Bath Street and Windmill Brae to all traffic, which is likely to remain in place for several hours whilst an examination is conducted.
DI Norman Stevenson, the officer in charge of the investigation said: "We are aware that there would have been a number of late night revellers in this busy city centre area, this morning, who may have witnessed something or have information regarding this incident .
He continued: "I am particularly keen to trace two males who I believe were in the area at the time and who were last seen walking on Bath Street in the direction of Bridge Street, Aberdeen.
“The males are both believed to be in the early 20's, with one described as having short brown hair and wearing a light coloured shirt and jeans."
