Armed police are involved in a firearms operation in Glasgow.
Officers have been involved in a series of raids in the Possil area of the city, including close to the Lidl supermarket in Balmore Road from 9.40am on Wednesday.
A Strathclyde police spokesman said no shots had been fired and there were believed to be no injuries but there confirmed there was an ongoing incident firearms incident involving armed police.
Glasgow has experienced a series of violent incidents in recent weeks. On Monday evening, a man was injured in a drive-by shooting in the Bridgeton area of the city. Police said that was believed to be gang-related but not linked to series of savage attacks in recent weeks.
Those targeted associates of underworld figure Kevin Carroll - who was shot dead in a supermarket car park in Asda Robroyston.
