An investigation has been launched after two patients at the same hospital were found hanged within days of each other.
Police have confirmed that a 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man died in separate incidents at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.
The deaths, one of which is believed to have occurred in the casualty ward, happened on Tuesday August 31 and Friday September 3.
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "Police attended two separate incidents of patients’ deaths.
“There were no suspicious circumstances and reports have been sent to the procurator fiscal."
Neither of the patients have yet been identified.
