A teenager has died after being struck by a van in Rutherglen.
The 16-year-old boy was crossing Glasgow Road, near its junction with Millcroft Road, when he was struck by the van at around 10.30pm on Tuesday.
Police and ambulance rushed to the scene, and the teenager was taken to Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary.
However, he died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The 25-year-old male driver of the van was uninjured.
Traffic was heavy in the surrounding areas following Scotland's match against Liechtenstein at nearby Hampden Park, which finished around 30 minutes before the crash.
The road was shut for approximately two and a half hours and diversions were put in place.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said a full report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
She said: "Officers from the Road Policing Department at Motherwell are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact their office on 01698 483000."
