Man seriously injured in Glasgow shooting

A man is in hospital after he was shot in the Bridgeton area of Glasgow.

The 41-year-old man was attacked in Main Street at Dale Path in the area at around 8.05pm on Tuesday.

Strathclyde Police said he had been shot at by one of the occupants of a black Vauxhall Astra car.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the injured man was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for arm and lower body injuries.  Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Detective Inspector Graham Cordner, of London Road Police Office, said:  "Our investigation is at an early stage and we are still trying to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

"Police and forensic enquiries are ongoing at the scene and officers are currently carrying out door to door enquiries and studying CCTV footage in an effort to gather more information on those responsible.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area of Main Street in Bridgeton last night around the time of the shooting to come forward to police, as they may have information that is vital to this investigation.

A force spokesman added: "Strathclyde Police would also like to reassure the community following this incident, and there will be additional high-visibility patrols in the local area.  Any residents with concerns should contact their local police office."
