Police have identified the man whose body was discovered beneath the summit of Arthur's Seat on Sunday night.
He is 45-year-old Andrew Algeo, of Restalrig Road South, Edinburgh.
Mr Algeo’s body was discovered by a walker on the hill at around 10pm on Sunday night. Lothian and Borders Police investigated and confirmed a short time later that it was a man's body, but were unable to remove it from the hillside immediately because of the inaccessibility of the area in which it was found.
On Monday police - assisted by a specialist team from Tweed Valley Search and Rescue - recovered the body from the area of the hill known as the Dry Dam.
Forensics officers also visited the scene after the body was found to assist with enquiries.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Algeo's death, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
