A Scottish soldier has been killed in an attack in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defence said on Sunday that an RPG attack killed the soldier, from The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
He was serving as part of the Brigade Reconnaissance Force.
The explosion happened on Sunday in Helmand Province, in the Nad-e Ali district. His family have been informed, the MoD said.
Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel James Carr-Smith, said: "A soldier from The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland was killed this morning.
"The soldier, serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force, was part of an operation that was disrupting insurgents in northern Nad-e Ali when he was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade.
"Selfless in the course of his duty, he will be missed by his many friends. He was an inspirational soldier. We will remember him."
The soldier's family have been informed but no further details have yet been released
His death brings to 333 the total number of British troops killed in the country since 2001.
